Online

Description

Join this practical session to improve your awareness of the power of language in social work report-writing.

It will be led by Ashleigh, a member of our National Advisory Forum, who has lived experience of children’s social care and working within children’s commissioning and service improvement.

The session will consider the importance of avoiding ambiguous language, using inclusive language and challenging bias in descriptions. You will learn about the best practice principles of writing about people, keeping full and accurate records and reflecting on the use of language.

Other people with lived experience of social work will also share their experiences of accessing their files and reading professionals’ views of their journeys. They will reflect on how they were depicted in written reports whilst accessing services.
